The Lion King sex scandal

Apparently, a 4-year-old boy either from Louisiana or New York was watching The Lion King with his head leaning to the left and when the scene with Simba, Pumba and Timon are star gazing and the cloud of dust appeared on the screen. The child supposedly noticed that the stars/dust spelled the word "sex".

The child passed the information to his mom or aunt. She,then reported it to a religious group to help rail against The Walt Disney Co. The American Life League got behind it citing this as another example of Disney hiding secret images in its films. It culminated with a huge campaign against Disney in September of 1995.

One theory is that the Special Effects (sfx) threw S F X into it but some say that once you see the scene stopped, the "F" is way too much like an E for that to be a reasonable explanation.

Others wonder about a 4 year old boy knowing the word enough to pick it out of a star/dust storm and understanding that it shouldn't be there.

But of course, Disney critics insist that Disney is pulling off some subliminal magic with the film.

There's no rock hard evidence one way or the other so it's up to the audience to decide this one.
